Joburg geek venue opens its doors tomorrow

We’ve talked about the new country club for geeks in Joburg, DeeTwenty, a few times since we heard about it, but founder Owen Swart sends word that the grand opening is tomorrow night (Saturday 16th) and all are welcome to come along. We’ll be there with cameras and Magic: The Gathering cards at the ready.

DeeTwenty is a four room house in Randburg which has areas available for members to meet and play boardgames, cardgames, RPGs and the like, and private rooms available for hire too. There’s a coffee bar on site, and groups that are already affiliated with the venue include a cosplay community, Star Trek fan club and Gauteng Skeptics.

Once its up and running, access is R45 a day or membership is R290 a month. The WiFi is described as bottomless, the coffee as ‘quite good’. Both are included in the price.

Nerf guns are also mentioned. Yes.

The venue is open all day from 9am, and the launch party officially kicks off at 5.30. Full details and directions – along with contact details – are over at the DeeTwenty site. See you there.
