The SANRAL offices in Midrand have been evacuated after a suspicious substance was found inside the building. Around 20 employees have gone through a decontamination process and have been taken for further tests although no one has been reported as injured so far.

The Tshwane Hazardous Materials Unit has been called in by SANRAL to deal with the incident and confirm the provenance and content of the package.

SANRAL spokesman Vusi Mona has confirmed that the office electricity has been shut off and all staff  sent home. He’s also suggested that this will affect the collection of e-tolls for this afternoon.
