Want to learn about data? Get thee to JoziHub this June

Ah – that data buzzword. It’s all around us. Big data, corporate data, data analytics, data journalism, data deluge, data data data. All data, in fact, except this one.

DataTNGSo what does it all mean? Fortunately, there’s someone who wants to explain it to you and – hopefully – inspire you to a lucrative career figuring out what can be done with all the data that’s all around us. The Johannesburg Centre for Software Engineering (JCSE) is hosting a big (and Big) Data and Analytics event on Thursday 26th June, at JoziHub in Milpark.

“All businesses need faster access to more information in order to remain competitive.  The proliferation of internet connectivity, social media and “the internet of things” means that businesses now have the ability to gather vast amounts of data on customers, suppliers and business operations,” the JSCE says. “However, because of the vast amount of data potentially available, one needs to be able to mine that data and produce meaningful intelligence. This empowers executives, managers and even staff on the shop floor to make faster, more informed decisions.”

Data and analytics involves gathering and analysing data to enable businesses to understand market trends and behaviours. The Data and Analytics event will explore how businesses can use this to their advantage.

Suven Moodley and Mayank Naik will be the speakers at the event, both have vast experience in the IT industry and have worked for some of South Africa’s biggest companies.

Tickets for the event are available on Quicket for R90 for general delegates, and at a discounted price of R40 for student delegates.
