Free FIFA World power-ups from Kaspersky

It’s not only bad guys making the most of the Soccer World Cup with the usual surge of cup-related spam SMSes and email scams flooding inboxes during the event, the good guys are getting some mileage from it too.

Security outfit Kaspersky has bundled a bonus for players of EA Sports’ free-to-play soccer game, FIFA World Beta with their Internet Security – Multi Device 2014 (KISMD2014) software.  Should you buy it, you’ll get five Gold Packs to redeem in the game as well.

Gold Packs, which are the paid-for extras that EA hopes you’ll want once the free-to-play soccer bug bites, contain a selection of high-end players that will improve your virtual team’s overall skill level.

While the offer is available at retail in several countries, the press release we received doesn’t include South Africa on the list. South Africans can only take advantage of the offer if they buy their KISMD2014 software online from Kaspersky.co.za.

KISMD2014 offers Kaspersky’s protective software for up to five different devices, and the more coverage you need, the more you’ll pay. It covers any combination of devices, too, so you can have any mix of up to five phones, tablets, Macs and PCs.

Online pricing starts at R528.95 for single-device protection for a year, and goes up to R883.95 for up to five. Or you can buy multi-year licenses if that suits your pocket better.
