SA eCommerce star Yuppiechef goes global

South Africa’s best eCommerce Store for four years running, and perennial favourite outlet for htxt.africa staff salaries, Yuppiechef has expanded its operations to a total of nine countries in south and eastern Africa as well as to the UAE.

The eight new territories are Namibia, Botswana, Lesotho, Swaziland, Mauritius, Zambia, Kenya and the UAE, all of which are being handled by the company’s local distribution partner Aramex.

“We looked at what we were doing in SA, and have tried to take that experience as far and wide as we can.” said Fran Peacock, head of international growth at Yuppiechef . “The response has been really encouraging, and we are excited to take our products and services even further afield.”

According to Yuppiechef’s website delivery to foreign destinations usually takes two to three weeks, however in cases “when all the stars align” orders have been known to arrive as quickly as one week from the date of order. Details on the various customs fees and value added taxes used by Yuppiechef to calculate the approximate costs for each of the countries are available on their website.

Yuppiechef has also launched an online cooking school which offers both once off courses as well as a subscription-based service that gives access to the entire course library for a monthly or annual subscription. There are currently three full courses, two short ones and a free baking course on offer that range in price from R175 for each short course, to R255 for the longer courses with subscriptions starting at R195 per month.

Along with the expansion into Africa, Yuppiechef has also rebranded from its South African roots, and the associated .co.za URL, to a new  home at www.yuppiechef.com which the company says “cements Yuppiechef firmly in the international online space they’ve always embraced.”
