This is possibly the new GoPro Hero 4

Speculation of a new GoPro camera has been swirling for many months, and while GoPro hasn’t officially announced anything yet, a wealth of new photos and details have emerged claiming to be the real deal – the new GoPro Hero 4.

Two of the biggest improvements over the previous GoPro is the fact that it now sports a touchscreen on the back, and can record in 4K video resolution. The added screen at the back is a major bonus, as you had to buy a separate one for the Hero 3.

But there is a slight catch – the Hero 4 Black will be able to record in 4K video resolution, while the Hero 4 Silver will have the touchscreen on the back panel.

The Black reportedly has a processor that is twice as powerful as it processor, and “will capture 4K video at 30 frames per second, up from the 15fps of previous GoPros, allowing for extremely high-quality footage that’s much more usable for a wide variety of applications,” according to PetaPixel.

The camera will be able to record 4K at 30fps, 2.7K at 50fps, 1440p at 80fps, 1080p at 120fps, 960p at 120fps, and 720p at 120fps. The biggest omission is the ability to record at 240fps. It will still be able to capture still images at 12 megapixels at 30 frames per second.

According to PetaPixel, it will capture twice the dynamic audio range, has an ultra-wide angle glass lens, has new manual settings for both photography and videography, and is waterproof down to 40m. Other features include a new HiLight Tag “for marking key moments in footage, a QuikCapture feature for powering up and recording with one button press, and auto low light features.”

Where the GoPro Hero 4 Silver lacks the ability to capture in 4K in 30fps, it does have the added bonus of having the touchscreen. Naturally you will be able to control the camera and set up the shot through it.
