Three ways to download videos off of YouTube, all online and virus free

Ever wanted to download a YouTube video to watch offline, due to a lack of internet or data costs? Well, here’s three ways to do so from your browser, all tested by us to be virus free.

While YouTube doesn’t officially support downloading videos hosted on their site, it has been improving in recent months with the Red programme and downloads for mobile devices in developing countries.

Despite that, both options are extremely limiting and get in the way of times when you really need a video on your hard drive instead of online.

While these measures are in place to prevent piracy and other illegal activities, it’s still useful for downloading a training video, getting a backup of one that you uploaded, or even for presentations.

Option 1 – Save From Net

  • Step 1: Find a YouTube video you’d like to download
  • Step 2: Place your cursor in the URL bar, and type “ss” in front of “youtube”
    • Becomes
    • “https://www.ssyoutube.com/watch?v=PAUF-IgXvRo&ab_channel=htxt.africa”
  • Step 3: Press enter, you will navigate to the Save From net site
  • Step 4: Click the drop-down list and choose the format you want to download in
  • Step 5: The download will now begin

Option 2 – Yout

  • Step 1: Find a YouTube video you’d like to download and copy its URL to your clipboard.
  • Step 2: Enter the following URL into your browser: “wwwstreampocket.com” (or click here)
  • Step 3: Paste the YouTube video’s URL into the space labelled “Stream goes here” and click the button that looks like a button.
  • Step 4: Give the site a few seconds to work
