NVIDIA’s crazy campaign for the new GPUs being announced this Friday

You would think that the fact that NVIDIA manufactures some of the greatest graphics cards the world has seen would be enough to get people hyped for its next family of GPUs.

You’d be wrong; instead, it’s decided to get the internet to solve a puzzle.

According to WCCFTech a number of technology sites in the United States received mystery boxes over the weekend with the tease, “Order of 10” embossed on the box.

Each box contained a triangle that had some sort of inscription in white on one side of the triangle as well as an alphanumeric code, and the URL, orderof10.com.

The idea was that when solved each triangle would open a new section of the site. Luckily rather than having to explain the extremely convoluted process to you the folks down at GamerNexus detailed the whole process for us in the video below.

So for those that can’t watch the video the gist of it is that six triangles, when combined and the pieces put together would give you the clue, “find the hidden directory”, a reference to the web URL we mentioned earlier.

After decoding more clues within the various pages for Astronomy, Vision, Compute, Circles, Structure and Collision the clues led to the URL orderof10.com/humanityshallbeenlightened which reveals a countdown timer which ends this Friday at 7pm.

Thankfully, we don't have to wait long to find out if this is indeed about a new GPU.

While the website doesn’t make explicit mention of the new GPU family the timing of the announcement this Friday and NVIDIA’s reported plans to release two new graphics cards in June are just too coincidental for us to ignore.

The rumour-mill has also drawn comparisons with things such as the font used in the 10 being the same font NVIDIA uses throughout its graphics cards and the sharp triangle bearing a resemblance to leaked photos of the so-called GTX 1080.

We should point out that this website, those clues and the number 10 could be a reference to anything but given how disappointed we were that NVIDIA didn’t use GPU Conference 2016 to show off new graphics cards, we’re inclined to hope that it will be announcing the new cards with a bang.

With AMD announcing its Radeon Pro Duo GPU last week and laying down the gauntlet before NVIDIA’s feet, this Friday announcement will be one to watch and don’t worry we’ll keep an eye on Team Green this week, just in case they release more cryptic clues.
