#SABC allows all journalists back at work

The SABC has done a U-turn on its earlier decision not allow four journalists back to work this morning and the firing of three other journalists.

The public broadcaster has issued a letter instructing its legal team not to proceed with further legal action and said it will reinstate Suna Venter, Foeta Krige, Krivani Pillay, Jacques Steenkamp, Thandeka Gqubule, Lukhanyo Calata and Busisiwe Ntuli.

This morning, the SABC’s legal team issued a letter to Solidarity and the Solidarity four journalists, telling them it would be appealing the Labour Court’s order to reinstate them with immediate effect and that the journalists should not report for work.

Solidarity had said it would give the SABC until 4pm today to reinstate them, otherwise it would file papers at the court to force the public broadcaster to reinstate them.

BEMAWU and Calata, Gqubule and Ntuli were meant to appear at the Labour Court tomorrow for their case against the SABC to be heard.
