A couple of days ago, Rockstar Games pretty much broke the internet by posting a new image on its Twitter account.
The reason this caused such a stir was because the image in question was the publisher’s logo in the font used in its open-world Western, the much-beloved Red Dead Redemption. In case you’ve been locked in an isolation ward for the last ten years, fans have been clamouring for a sequel to this game for the last six years.
Rockstar then upped the ante by posting a picture in which the silhouettes of several cowboys walking out of a sunset could be seen, and the screams of hype went up a notch.
So imagine, then, what an official announcement would do. Well, a couple of minutes ago we received a press release from Rockstar Games stating that Red Dead Redemption 2 is set for release next year, round about this very time.
“Rockstar Games… is proud to announce that the highly anticipated Red Dead Redemption 2 will release worldwide in Fall (locally, that would be spring – ed) 2017 for PlayStation 4 computer entertainment systems and for the Xbox One games and entertainment system,” the statement reads.
“Developed by the creators of Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption, Red Dead Redemption 2 is an epic tale of life in America’s unforgiving heartland. The game’s vast and atmospheric world will also provide the foundation for a brand new online multiplayer experience.”
There’s also apparently a trailer that will go live on Thursday at 5pm local time. Readers, we urge you to check back tomorrow, when the player below will have something to show.
