Fallout 4 is free to play this weekend

If you’ve ever wondered if exploring the Commonwealth – that would be post-apocalypse Boston – in Fallout 4 was worth your money, but haven’t been convinced enough to part with your cash, we have some good news for you.

Bethesda is offer Fallout 4 on a free-trial basis this weekend starting tomorrow on May 25th. Sounds pretty sweet right? Well, like all good things that sound too good to be true, there are some caveats.

First off, this offer is only valid if you’re an Xbox One owner or a PC gamer with a Steam account. That’s right, all you PS4 aren’t eligible to take part in this free weekend. Only Steam and Xbox One players can play the base game using all the mods for free.

Second, in order to take advantage of this, Xbox One owners will need an Xbox Live Gold account.

PS4, Xbox One and Steam account owners get a major discount of up to 67% on the game, its season pass and its DLC.

Here are the windows for the different platforms (and all are local times):

  • On Steam, it’ll run from May 25th at 7pm to May 29th at 10pm.
  • On Steam the discounted game and its add-ons will be available from May 25th at 7pm to May 29th at 7pm.
  • On Xbox One, it’ll run from May 25th at 9am to May 29th at 8pm
  • On PS4 (and Xbox One) the discounted game and its add-ons will be available from May 25th at 9am to May 29th at 8pm.

Nintendo Switch owners are completely left out of this offer.
