Titanfall 2 is finally getting a co-op mode next week

After much speculation that the co-op horde mode Frontier Defense would return to Titanfall 2, we finally have confirmation.

In a free update coming to the game next week 25th July, Operation Frontier Shield will add a host of content including this new mode.

At launch Frontier Defense will be supported on five maps with five different difficulties. In it, up to four players will fight to defend a point against AI enemies, with points awarded for kills. These points can be used for weapons as well as defensive items. So far so horde mode.

To put a unique Titanfall spin on things, the Titans themselves will receive “Aegis Ranks” which will unlock new upgrades that will not be available in the game’s regular multiplayer.

You can see a trailer of the update below, with a tutorial video focused on Frontier Defense coming on launch day.

Aside from a new mode, players can also look forward to a new map called Rise, new purchasable cosmetic items and Titan skins that will increase team XP gain in Frontier Defense.

For those who still have doubts about this game, there will be a free trial from 28th July to the 30th on all platforms. In the trial players have access to the time trial training gauntlet, one singleplayer mission, and the full competitive multiplayer.

If you haven’t yet, this trial is the perfect jumping in point. Titanfall 2 was one of the best games of 2016 and we highly recommend it.
