Crackdown 3 delayed until 2018

If you’re one of the many Xbox One owners itching to pick up a copy of Crackdown 3 this November, we have some bad news, Agents: you’ll have to wait until next year.

In an email interview with Polygon, Microsoft Studios Publishing general manager Shannon Loftis said the game would be pushed back from its planned release date of 17th November 2017, to spring of next year. For those us us in South Africa, that means the tail end of summer.

“We’re very excited about Crackdown 3, and so are many fans, and so it’s a difficult call to move the release date,” Loftis said, “However, we want to make sure to deliver the right game, with the right quality, and at the right time.”

“Crackdown 3 is a hugely ambitious game and we want to ensure we deliver the right experiences all the way through every part of the game, whether that’s campaign, co-op multiplayer or our competitive multiplayer mode, Wrecking Zone,” Loftis added.

“Getting the balance right between the three modes is important, and we are going to take the extra development time to ensure that.”

Well, we can’t argue with a developer if they feel their game needs more polishing – hey, we’d rather wait for something superb than get a game that feels unfinished – but Crackdown 3 has been a long time coming.

Remember that this was a game revealed back in 2014 at E3 and since its demo behind closed doors at Gamescom the same year, very little information has been made available on it. Well, apart from a trailer starring Terry Crewes at this year’s E3 that is…
