Unconfirmed Samsung Galaxy S9 specifications appear online

Companies looking to make a fuss about their latest products are likely finding it harder to do so in this internet age.

Just last year the specs for Apple’s latest handset appeared online hours before Tim Cook introduced the handset himself and Samsung is not immune to prying eyes.

An image that appeared on the r/Android sub-Reddit community appears to show off the packaging of a Samsung Galaxy S9. What’s more is that the image contains a few specifications.

From the image we can see that the handset will sport a 5.8inch display with rounded corners and said display will have a QHD+ resolution.

The real talking point however is the rear camera. The camera appears to have a f1.5 aperture which is a ridiculous figure for a smartphone snapper. The camera also has a f2.4 aperture. Perhaps this variable aperture means we’ll see a degree of optical zoom in the S9.

Features that were seen in the Galaxy S8 such as IP68 water and dust resistance, an iris scanner and wireless charging return in the S9.

Aside from that, information about the S9 will likely start coming to a head as we get closer to MWC 2018 at the end of February where it is expected Samsung will reveal the new handset.

Of course given how quickly rumours spread about new handsets it’s not beyond the realm of possibility that this is a red herring cleverly crafted by Samsung. We guess we’ll all find out in February.
