Esports festival Rush gets a venue change

Rush, the esports festival from the same folks that bring us rAge each year, is moving venues.

Last year the inaugural Rush festival was held at the Sandton Convention Centre in the north of Johannesburg, but in 2018 the organisers are travelling further north – to Pretoria.

That’s right Rush will be happening at the Sun Arena at Time Square in Pretoria from 29th June until 1st July.

The organisers have also revealed that Vodacom 4U will be sponsoring three esports tournaments at Rush.

The tournaments are:

  • Fortnite – 1 v 1 (Mobile)
  • FIFA 18 – 1 v 1 (PS4)
  • Counter Strike Global Offensive – 5 v 5 (PC)

The Fortnite tournament is a bit of an oddity and we will admit we’re curious to see both how it plays out and how exactly the event will be streamed to fans.

Registration for all tournaments opens this Friday and, if you are competing, you get free entrance to the event.

For those that aren’t taking part tickets will cost R60 for a day or R100 for a weekend pass.

Tickets to attend Rush go on sale on 1st June and you can find out more about getting hold of tickets and competing at the event over on the Rush website.
