Official Adventure Time 3D prints are now available on MyMiniFactory

3D Print sharing site MyMiniFactory has announced something unprecedented in a partnership with Cartoon Network and the Adventure Time licence.

It will be releasing three officially endorsed 3D prints of the characters Lumpy Space Princess, Jake, and Marceline that can be downloaded for free. Anyone with these files can then print their own versions in any way they see fit.

Makers have always created and shared recreations of popular properties, but this is one of the only times we can recall where the licence holder gave their blessing to the whole endeavour.

“We are delighted to be helping Turner International [Cartoon Network’s parent company] to start their journey in the consumer 3D printing space. Turner recognised MyMiniFactory’s community and focus on high quality 3D printable content,” MyMiniFactory chief executive officer Romain Kidd said in a statement, “We couldn’t be more excited to be hosting these characters for fans to download for free and 3D print at home.”

On top of providing the files for personal printing, there’s also contests to go along with them. Everyone who makes their own print can submit pictures of it with the best entry winning a spool of filament. The MyMiniFactory team has already made some example prints, which is how they used to test every single file that was submitted to them.

The first character to be released is Lumpy Space Princess who also doubles as a piggy bank. Jake followed and then so did Marceline rounding out the trio.

If you’ve already printed LSP or Jake and want to try and win that filament, make an account on MyMiniFactory and post your pictures in the comments or community prints section of the objects.

All three these models are around five inches (12.7 centimetres) by default and take around six hours to make, depending on your printer and its settings.

The one drawback to all of this is the regional restriction. Due to licencing constraints these models are only available to those in the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) region.
