Where to stream the 16th Annual Nelson Mandela Lecture

This year would have marked the 100th birthday of the late Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela.

On the eve of Mandela’s birthday, the 16th Annual Nelson Mandela lecture will be taking place at the Bidvest Wanderers Stadium this afternoon. Past lectures have been delivered by Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu and Bill Gates.

This year the lecture will be delivered by the 44th President of the US, Barack Obama and as many as 14 500 people are expected to attend the lecture. Among the attendees are former president of Liberia Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and former UN secretary general Kofi Annan.

“Madiba’s 100th year comes only once and it’s important for us to look at people who are inspired by his legacy personally but also who have modelled their own leadership after Madiba, so Obama is that kind of person,” the Nelson Mandela Foundation told the SA Government News Agency.

The lecture starts at 14:00 this afternoon (17th July) and if you don’t have a ticket to attend, you can live stream the lecture online.

Streams will be hosted on the Nelson Mandela Foundation YouTube page, the Nelson Mandela Foundation Facebook page as well as the organisation’s official website.

For those without an internet connection or limited internet cap, the SABC will be broadcasting the lecture as well.
