Samsung Galaxy Watch won’t need to be charged everyday

[UPDATE]

Samsung has told us that the Galaxy Watch will be available locally in September with pricing starting at R5 499. At first only the Bluetooth version will be available with the LTE iteration due later.

Original story follows below.

With the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 announced, the South Korean giant revealed an all new wearable in the Samsung Galaxy Watch.

The wearable will be available in two iterations: 46mm in Silver and 42mm in either Midnight Black or Rose Gold.

The 46mm option has a large 472mAh battery which Samsung says will last 80 hours with typical usage. The smaller 42mm version houses a 270mAh battery but should last 45 hours according to the firm.

The brain of the Galaxy Watch is a Exynos 9110 dual core processor running at 1.15GHz.

You will be able to choose from a version with LTE or one without. The LTE version boasts 1.5GB of RAM and 4GB of storage while the Galaxy Watch with Bluetooth only features 768MB of RAM and 4GB of storage.

The Galaxy Watch is also rather durable carrying 5ATM + IP68 / MIL-STD-810G ratings. It can also be charged wirelessly.

The release schedule for the Galaxy Watch is rather strange. It will launch in the US on 24th August (no doubt to coincide with the Galaxy Note 9 launch) while in Korea it will only be available from 31st August. The rest of the world will be able to get their hands on the wearable from 14th September.

No word on local pricing just yet but Samsung has stated that the Galaxy Watch will debut locally sometime in September too.
