Report says Apple will add USB Type-C port to iPad Pro

Apple may be bringing the USB Type-C port to more devices in future.

This according to a report by 9to5Mac, which is usually a credible source when it comes to such matters.

If true, it wouldn’t be the first time that Apple added the current port standard to one of its devices, with the 12″ MacBook and recent MacBook Pro models doing the same, much to the chagrin of users who have had to embrace the dongle life.

Along with the USB Type-C port, which would facilitate the same charging and data transfer function as the lighting port before it, there are also a host of other rumoured improvements coming to the iPad Pro.

9to5Mac, which cites developer Guilherme Rambo as its insider for this information, notes that the new iPad Pro will also feature a 4K HDR capable display, Face ID for biometric security and enhanced magnetic connector for accessories like smart keyboards.

Speaking of accessories, there’s a redesigned Apple Pencil stylus in the works that could feature proximity-based pairing.

The big question now is when Apple will deem it worthwhile to reveal the new iPad Pro, with October often being the time it likes to host such events.

With the iPhone Xs, Xs Max, Xr and Apple Watch Series 4 already in the market, it may decide to hold off for now.
