Watch the Pokémon Direct stream right here

Today is Pokémon Day (not an official holiday, please stay at work and school) and among all the events and reveals, the biggest one is likely whatever is in the upcoming Direct.

Just like Nintendo Direct, Pokémon Direct is a stream that will go out later today which will contain some news about the franchise.

The prevailing theory is that a new game, or a pair of new games, will be announced, and there’s evidence to back that up.

When Let’s Go, Eevee and Let’s Go, Pikachu were announced fans were assured that a mainline entry would be coming this year. On top of this: the image being used to promote the direct contains three Poké Balls, which are obviously a reference to the three starter Pokémon.

If new titles are on their way, the debate then is what exactly are we getting? The two theories right now are a remake of Pokémon Diamond / Pearl / Platinum, or an entirely new entry which will constitute generation eight.

Sinnoh was generation four, and all three generations before it have already been remade so Sinnoh should be the next to receive the treatment, if it’s not generation eight.

All we can really do now is wait for the stream to start, which you can watch right here. Embedded below is the Pokémon Direct which should be live at 16:00 local time.

If you’re here early you can also click on the “set reminder” option in the stream, and YouTube will alert you on the app with a popup on the app, or a message on the site.

For more Pokémon Day shenanigans, a new trailer for Detective Pikachu was released recently.
