Asus’ colourful range of VivoBook S14 and S15 notebooks arrive in August

Late last week Asus invited us to a local media event check out some of the hardware it showcased at Computex 2019 in Taipei a couple of weeks ago. Of the number of new notebooks the company revealed, the new lineup of VivoBooks proved quite interesting.

These newly improved offerings come in a variety of colours, and like many of the devices Asus had in tow at Computex, they’re sporting a ScreenPad instead of a regular touchpad.

They are also touting ultra thin bezels to house their displays in what the Taiwanese is calling the NanoEdge.

Both the S14 and S15 models will be available in South Africa, with Asus confirming that they’ll be available from August locally. Depending on the retailer the two variants will starting costs will be in the range of R14 999 to R17 999.

So what are they featuring besides colourful designs.

The aforementioned NanoEdge displays serve up FullHD (1920×1080) visuals on both the S14 and S15, with the former having a 14″ screen and latter a 15.6″ one. Asus is also bringing in two different configurations on the S14 and S15 for local consumers.

On the VivoBook S14 you can get up to an Intel Core i7-8565U quad-core processor, with 16GB of LPDDR3 RAM and a 1TB PCIe SSD for storage. On the larger VivoBook S15, a similar internal setup is available on the highest specification available locally, with the only key difference being the screen size.

As mentioned earlier, both models will have a 5.65″ touchscreen-enabled pad sitting below the keyboard. The pad will boast a range of Asus-designed apps for multitasking, along with unique key layouts for special tasks and a natural writing input for text translation.

Asus also notes that the ScreenPad 2.0 isn’t a drain on battery life and can offer 2.5 times more use than that of its predecessor.
