Where to find your load shedding schedule online

Eskom announced this morning that load shedding would be making an unwelcome return to the daily calendar.

The utility has implemented Stage 2 load shedding since 09:00 on Wednesday morning. The rolling power outages that form part of load shedding are expected to last until 23:00 on Wednesday evening.

As such you may be looking for your area’s load shedding schedule online and for that you’ve come to the right place.

Before we begin you’ll need to find your latest power bill. For those that receive their bill directly from Eskom you can head to this website, type in your suburb and hit search. Our experience with this website is mixed especially since our suburb is listed twice. We recommend checking both, just in case.

For those who receive their bill from the municipality you’ll need to visit its website. We’ve included a few links to major metropolitan areas below.

Unfortunately not all municipalities include a load shedding schedule online which means you’ll need to give them a call.

By far our favourite solution for load shedding (yes we recognise how sad that sounds when you say it out loud) is Eskom Se Push.

The app was released in 2018 when load shedding reared its ugly head again and it is available for free on Android and Apple iOS. The app will send you push notifications when load shedding is set to hit your area and there is even a chat function if you want to chat to folks in your area.

With Eskom needing to repair a conveyor belt at Medupi to bring generating capacity up to spec there’s no telling when load shedding will end but in our experience it’s best to be prepared.
