iKhokha adds the ability to buy prepaid products like water, electricity, airtime and more

iKhokha has some significant news that small businesses in particular will be interested in. This as the company which specialises in giving terminal machines to small or informal businesses to begin accepting card payments, has now added the ability to facilitate payments for prepaid products and services.

This means that you can soon pay for prepaid products like electricity, airtime, data and water from a business which has the new iKhokha Vend machine. Added to this is the ability to pay for DStv, Telkom, traffic fines and municipal bills.

“In the informal market, prepaid has always been a heavily cash-based service. In this tough economy, our small and medium enterprise customers are looking for increased security as well as new income streams, so we developed a digital solution called iKhokha Vend,” explains CEO Matt Putman.

“We have built on our existing retail distribution partnership with the Massmart group which enables SMEs to purchase a card machine in any Game, Builders Warehouse or Makro store nationally. The prepaid partnership now allows us to take advantage of Massmart’s significant buying power with prepaid suppliers, so that we can collectively pass on the additional value to our iKhokha SME merchant base,” he adds.

The only requirement to use iKhokha Vend is that the merchant must have an iKhokha card machine with the app, the firm points out. For merchants they need to simply log into the iKhokha app, select Vend, follow the tutorial, select the prepaid service they want to use, and then accept the customer’s payment via the iKhokha card machine.

For small businesses that want to add more offerings and services to their existing customer base, the addition of iKhokha Vend could prove an important offering.
