Book a ticket aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 to the ISS for just $55 million

Looking to take a trip few people will be able to brag about in their life? Do you have a spare $55 million laying around? Then SpaceX has just the trip for you.

The space exploration firm has announced that it, together with Axiom Space, will send three space tourists to the International Space Station (ISS) in 2021. The tourists will head to the ISS aboard a Falcon 9 rocket and its Crew Dragon capsule.

The trip will last 10-days of which the tourists will spend eight days aboard the ISS.

“Since 2012, SpaceX has been delivering cargo to the International Space Station in partnership with NASA and later this year, we will fly NASA astronauts for the first time,” said SpaceX president and chief operating officer, Gwynne Shotwell.

“Now, thanks to Axiom and their support from NASA, privately crewed missions will have unprecedented access to the space station, furthering the commercialization of space and helping usher in a new era of human exploration,” Shotwell added.

This won’t be the first trip that a private citizen has made to the ISS but it will be the first fully private trip according to Axiom Space.

“This history-making flight will represent a watershed moment in the march toward universal and routine access to space,” said Axiom Space chief executive officer, Michael Suffredini.

“This will be just the first of many missions to ISS to be completely crewed and managed by Axiom Space – a first for a commercial entity. Procuring the transportation marks significant progress toward that goal, and we’re glad to be working with SpaceX in this effort,” says the CEO.

Tickets will cost a cool $55 million and according to The New York Times, one has already been purchased.

It should make for a rather spectacular holiday, if you can afford it of course.
