Titanfall 2 has a cut dab execution

Do you ever see removed content from your favourite game and wistfully think “ah, if only”? Well today we definitely experienced that as we learned that a dab was once planned for Titanfall 2.

This was shared by Ranon Sarono who was a senior animator at Titanfall 2 developer, Respawn Entertainment. Sarono is now a senior animator at Infinity Ward, but is more known online by the title “hyper” who created many joke animations, particularly around gun reloads. You can see these on the hyper YouTube channel.

Sarono took to Twitter to share the video embedded below. For those who haven’t played the game before an execution in the game is a unique animation usually seen in the multiplayer portion of the game.

Executions are activated by melee killing another player from behind. Instead of the standard first person melee event a unique and flashy animation will play out.

Titanfall 2 was famous for these inventive and often brutal execution animations. Some of them look straight out of an anime, and now we have the dab:

As Titanfall 2 came out in October 2016 dabbing was much more of a “thing” and we are sure this would have been positively received if it has been released either at the launch of the game or in one of its updates.

And yes, we do know that this technically isn’t “cut content” because it seems it was never actually implemented into the game. Something can’t be cut if it was never attached, the logic says, but it still falls into the realm of something that could have been in the game but was left out intentionally.
