Sony’s Play at Home initiative gives PS4 owners free access to The Nathan Drake Collection

During the COVID-19 pandemic, and numerous lockdowns happening across the globe, Sony is offering gamers some respite with its Play at Home initiative, with free access arriving on the PS4 for Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection.

Sony explained its decision on its blog earlier this week, noting that access would open up on 15th April Stateside. The evening availability in the US would make it early Thursday morning for those in South Africa, and 5:00AM by our calculations. The Nathan Drake Collection will also be available to play until 5th May.

“For most of you, Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection will need no introduction. This three-game collection from the masters at Naughty Dog includes Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, and Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception—all meticulously remastered for PS4. We can’t imagine a better time for globe-trotting adventures with Nathan Drake, an iconic cast of characters, and thrilling treasure-hunting action gameplay,” PlayStation’s blog noted.

“In alignment with SIE’s goal in preserving Internet access in the US and Europe, game downloads may take a little longer, but we appreciate the understanding from our community as we take these measures in an effort to preserve access for everyone,” it adds.

For those who have not played any of the Uncharted games until now, the lockdown would be a great chance to do so, as is the fact that players do not have to be PlayStation Plus members in order to access it.

Once you get through those three titles, we also highly recommend giving Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End a try too, which is one of the best exclusives that Sony has released on the PS4 to date.
