Comcorp announces it will use BioID in its authentication product

Much has been said about how the world will change post-COVID-19 and one area we foresee changing is in the know-your-customer processes.

Right now there are certain things you have to do when opening a bank account, for example. That includes proving that you are who you say you are.

For the longest time this has been accomplished through you having to be at a bank branch so that a person can verify that the person in the ID is indeed you.

This sort of verification is in place in several industries and Comcorp hopes to make its Curata product a bit more secure by using biometric authentication from German firm BioID.

Curata offers banks and other credit providers secure, encrypted access to proof of income, electronic know your customer and FICA data. With BioID in place, users would be able to authenticate themselves easily and give banks and credit providers access to their data.

This will be accomplished by using BioID together with the population register.

“Comcorp has chosen BioID as their trusted Technology Partner. After 26 years in the financial services business, the need to protect our customers and their data remains at the forefront of our business model. As technology advances, we need to ensure a smooth but secure user experience,” said head of sales at Comcorp, Marcel Zeier, in a statement.

BioID provides face matching and liveness detection as well as anti-spoofing in real-time.

“It is our view that BioID offers Curata the strongest levels of authentication with the frictionless user experience necessary for the financial services industry,” said Zeier.
