Microsoft Flight Simulator available as a 10 disc physical edition

Microsoft Flight Simulator is going to be a big game when it launches come 18th August this year, and it has a similarly large physical edition that is spread over 10 discs and comes with a proper printed manual.

This comes by way of simulation company, Aerosoft, which will be handling the distribution of retail disc versions in Europe.

The “Premium Deluxe” version of the game is selling for €112.06 (~R2 129) excluding VAT and shipping costs. That name is a bit confusing as it’s actually just the Premium version of the game, but in a physical form.

As detailed in this blog post Microsoft Flight Simulator comes in three versions: Standard, Deluxe and Premium. The difference between these versions is the amount of airports and aircraft in each. Standard has 20 planes and 30 airports, Deluxe has 25 planes and 35 airports, and Premium has it all with 30 planes and 40 airports.

“It is with great pride that we can announce that Microsoft has chosen Aerosoft as its retail publishing partner for the new Microsoft Flight Simulator. Aerosoft will bring the two boxed versions of this venerable simulator to customers in Europe. Including 10 (!) double-layer DVD’s and a printed manual in a spectacular box, it is an ideal way of entering the new age of flight simulation,” Reads an official post on the Aerosoft forum.

The second boxed version is a cheaper option – the “Standard” – which lines up with the Standard version of the digital game offering the lowest amount of planes and airports.

It’s selling for €60.34 (~R1 146), which also excludes VAT and shipping. This boxed version also has a reduced number of discs at six.

Aerosoft has plans to start shipping both physical variants on or around 21st August. As the company is focused on Europe we’re not sure how or if it will be available in other parts of the world outside of complex personal importing.
