100+ games promised for Project xCloud in September

Last month Microsoft announced that its game streaming service Project xCloud would be folded into Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, with subscribers to the latter getting the former without the need for additional purchases.

Now in August a further announcement has promised that more than a hundred games will be available on Project xCloud from 15th September.

While a full list of those games have not been provided just yet, an official blog post on Xbox Wire together with a trailer embedded below shows off some big names for the platform. Destiny 2, Gears 5, Minecraft Dungeons,Tell Me Why and Yakuza Kiwami 2 are all mentioned by name in the blog post, and we can catch games like Forza Horizon 4 and Sea of Thieves in the trailer.

While the trailer states that  “Xbox controllers” are needed to connect to your Android phone or tablet to play, that’s not the whole truth.

That’s because PlayStation DualShock 4 controllers are also supported, and Microsoft has teamed up with many third party manufacturers to make new accessories which will work. Razer, PowerA, 8BitDo, and Nacon have all been roped in and you can find the new controllers for each on this separate page.

Now for the bad news: Project xCloud will not be available worldwide in September. 22 markets will get access with everyone needing to wait for a bigger rollout.

Those 22 markets are:

  • Austria
  • Belgium
  • Canada
  • Czech Republic
  • Denmark
  • Finland
  • France
  • Germany
  • Hungary
  • Ireland
  • Italy
  • Netherlands
  • Norway
  • Poland
  • Portugal
  • Slovakia
  • Spain
  • South Korea
  • Sweden
  • Switzerland
  • United Kingdom
  • United States

Just because you can access Xbox Game Pass in your country doesn’t mean Project xCloud will be around any time soon. Many territories are even missing Xbox Game Pass features which have been around for a while, such as the Pass Points system which allows users to complete “Quests” to earn points for purchases. This has been available for months but has not reached most countries.
