- Bungie gives Destiny 2 players a closer look at the newest location in the game – Neomuna.
- A new trailer also highlights the invasion of ever-present threat Emperor Calus on Neptune, Strand, and the Cloud Striders.
- Lightfall is said to be the penultimate expansion before the conclusion of Destiny’s Light versus Darkness saga.
With little over a month to go before the launch of Destiny 2: Lightfall, Bungie has released a new trailer showcasing the next destination for players, the city of Neomuna on Neptune.
The neon city reminds us an awful lot of the Arcology located on Titan, a location that is no longer accessible in Destiny 2. With that having been said, the location is still unique compared to anything in the game at present and it promises to be a location where players can exploit the movement of a new sub-class, Strand.
“The trailer also showcases the scope of Calus’s invasion into Neomuna and depicts Guardians grappling their way through the city using the new Darkness subclass, Strand,” Bungie writes in a press release.
Strand will be the next Darkness sub-class players will have access to when Lightfall launches at the end of February. Described as the ability to “pluck at the threads of consciousness” the real draw of the sub-class for players is the mobility it introduces through a grappling hook.
Following on from the success of The Witch Queen, Lightfall will see the return of the Legendary Campaign. This difficulty option makes enemies hit just a bit harder and forces players to consider how to approach a mission rather than simply storming the gates.
The expansion will also include a new Raid, new Exotic gear and a few other perks depending on which iteration of the expansion – Standard or with the Annual Pass – you purchase.
Lightfall is to be the penultimate expansion before Bungie concludes the so-called Light versus Darkness saga of Destiny with The Final Shape. What happens to Destiny 2 thereafter is an unknown quantity at this stage.
Destiny 2: Lightfall arrives on PlayStation, Xbox and PC on 28th February 2023.
