E3 Day 1: Game trailer blowout

It’s only been one day, but E3 has been full of incredible game announcements and butt-kicking trailers so far. We’ve gathered 10 of the best in a single place for you to enjoy at your leisure.

Dark Souls 2 looks to retain the challenging yet fair combat that made the first 2 games in the series so fantastic, with upgraded graphics and a new, somewhat less convuluted storyline. Praise the sun!

Platforms
PC, Xbox 360, PS3

Dead Rising 3 looks to be a far grittier game than its campy predecessors, but the game’s producer, Josh Bridges assures audiences that some of the series’ lightheartedness and the weapon-combo system introduced in DR2 will remain in the latest sequel. It features around 3 times more on-screen zombies than even Dead Rising 2 had, so potentially 21000 of the buggers.

It would appear that Master Chief will return to an Xbox One near you in the near-ish future. Was there ever any doubt?

Someone at EA must actually be listening to the fans – a sequel to 2008’s cult-classic roof-runner is in the works. Give that person a raise, EA!

Platforms
PS4, PC, Xbox One

Watch Dogs is quite possibly one of the most exciting games announced recently. Its mind-blowing premise of a near-future where technology is everywhere, and open to manipulation by skilled hackers is scary, intriguing and not all as far-fetched as I’m sure many would like to think. Check out the latest gameplay trailer unveiled at E3.

PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One

Ignoring our disappointment at Morrigan looking like she’s recently undergone back-alley plastic surgery, we’re pretty excited for Dragon Age 3. It features an open world, plenty of familiar characters and, with any luck, more throwbacks to the original Dragon Age’s design than DA2’s. Just look at those visuals: apparently the trailer uses all in-engine footage.

PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One

Killzone: Shadow Fall is a PS4 exclusive, bringing with it all of the baddie-shooting future-rich goodness series fans have come to expect.

Platform
PS4 (Exclusive)

To be quite honest, we don’t yet know what to make of Quantum Break. Microsoft keeps talking it up and saying it will revolutionise both TV and gaming, but Microsoft says that sort of thing a lot so who knows. All we do know is the trailer looks… intriguing.

Platform
Xbox One (Exclusive)

Tom Clancy’s The Division combines incredibly high-tech weaponry and tactical third-person gunplay with… an MMO? Yes indeed, The Division is a massively-multiplayer Tom Clancy open world that you can play in with your mates. If the concept sounds a bit meh, the trailer’s very impressive action should change your mind.

Platform
Xbox One, PS4

The guys behind the success of the Call of Duty series left Infinity Ward and started their very own studio, Respawn Games. The first game from Respawn is this fantastic-looking Starship-Troopers-meets-Battlefield game that is hoping to shake up both single and multiplayer FPSes. We think their formula is pretty potent – who doesn’t like a good robot fight?
