dotFNB comes to Joburg.CBD

First National Bank, better known as the financial institution that doesn’t employ Steve, has expanded the footprint for dotFNB by opening a branch in the Johannesburg CBD.

For those who don’t know, dotFNB is the walk-in centre where FNB customers can buy a wide range of consumer electronics – from smartphones to laptops – on credit, using the FNB accounts. The prices for items at dotFNB are usually below market value and attract 0% interest over the 24-month period.

The head of dotFNB, Kim Gibson-van der Walt, says, “Johannesburg is not only seeing a growth in cosmopolitan residents, but has become a weekend playground where people gather at rooftop markets, theatres and downtown bioscope experiences.”

Indeed, the CBD has become a great attraction over weekends – a far cry from the criminal hive of a few years ago. The reclamation of Jo’burg has seen indie theatres, concerts, brewery tours, and more, all become popular things to do.

“The BankCity dotFNB provides a touch point for FNB to widen its reach of those exposed to how technology and innovation, coupled with the FNB product and service offering, can simplify banking,” Gibson-van der Walt added.

As Johannesburg starts becoming a tech hub, it’s great to see interactive, technology-based banking take a hold – and FNB, as has been the case of the last few years, is at the forefront.
