While Chrysler is fretting over its recall procedures, after the US government forced its hand with the threat of a lawsuit, Tesla Motors CEO, Elon Musk, has taken to his company’s blog to detail a partial recall of Tesla Model S vehicles produced this year.
In a no-frills post, he details the extent of the project, the implications, and even the procedure for those affected. Model S owners will not have to take their cars anywhere: Tesla will send a technician to fetch the car and provide a loaner. Musk even goes to great detail to assure concerned owners that the recall was not inspired by any agency, and that it’s simply a measure Tesla is taking to ensure superior safety.
It’s also a great way to avoid a PR disaster ahead of tomorrow’s Tesla event, where the company will show off how it plans to swap battery packs on its EVs.
