Google wants you to become a Street View backpacker

Google’s Street View cars can’t go everywhere and if you’re the outdoors type then Google want’s you! Google has opened up it’s Street View program to allow you to borrow one of its Trekkers a backpack equipped with a 360-degree camera that lets you become a Street View car on legs. Until now the Trekkers have only been available to Google employees and a few select 3rd party organisations and have led to Street View maps of the Grand Canyon and the Canadian Arctic.

While Google isn’t just handing out the Trekkers to just anyone “If you represent an organization such as a tourism board, non-profit, government agency, university or research group that would like to take photos with the Trekker for future inclusion on Google Maps” then you should fill out this form and who knows, your footage could land up being of the Google Maps
