Huawei Ascend G510 launches in SA

Huawei launched its entry level Ascend G510 smartphone in South Africa today. The device features a Dual Core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage which you can increase with a microSD card. The G510 is running Android 4.1.1 (Jelly Bean) with Huawei’s Emotion UI skin on top of it. It also features an IPS display with a 480 X 854 resolution which should have decent viewing angles both in doors and in direct sunlight.

The device feels sturdy in hand even with its heavy use of plastic in the build.

The G510 will be available in South Africa from Edcon group stores from 1 July and from networks shortly thereafter at a retail price of only R1 999.90

Huawei plans to be no. 3 in the world smartphone market after Apple and Samsung with a market share of 5% within the next two years and the G510 is the first device to be launched in South Africa with a mind on achieving that goal.
