The end of poverty in sight?

Everyone loves a good graph, especially if they have a happy ending. The Economist has one that says extreme poverty – living on less than a dollar a day – could be gotten rid of by 2030-ish. Which is a nice thought to go to bed on.

The caveat being, of course, that its possible if the current growth trajectories of countries like India and South Africa are maintained. If that’s to happen, it’s going to take a lot of new enterprises emerging and all these budding African start-ups and tech initiatives to deliver.
