For those who have ever retweeted a tweet and wondered if their followers have retweeted it from their retweet, Twitter has a notification for you. From today Twitter will be notifying users of these retweeted retweets as well as notifying users when a tweet they’ve been mentioned in has been favorited by someone.

The move by Twitter to show users more information about how they impact the rest of Twitter is a clever way of playing on the inherent narcissism of its users and can be seen as a feature steal from services like Klout and Kred which show users how much impact they’re having on social media. With the recent updates to to allow hashtags and Instagram taking on Vine Twitter has been under attack by arch rival Facebook and now Twitter is fighting back by trying to make its users feel even more important.
