For most people Vine, Twitter’s short video service, is a means for posting 6-second clips to convey what a photo simply can’t. For Twitter’s video animator, Ian Padgham, his employer’s video service is a new piece of canvas; a creative medium for him to show off his talents.
Padgham’s Vines are works of art. Using stop-motion animation – and lots of storyboarding – he produces clips that loop seamlessly, making it difficult to tell they’re only 6 seconds long. Rather than just being regular videos, his creations star anything from a wooden puppet, to his own hands. In those where he shows off buildings or scenery he smartly makes the most of the opportunity by doing a 3D walk-around or a 360-degree panorama. Simply put, this is the best use of Vine we’ve seen, and makes us want to go out and be better Vineographers.
