Zero interest Apple gear snubs startups

South Africa’s authorised Apple reseller, Core Group, has announced a new initiative to make Apple technology more affordable for businesses and startups. The company, through its iStore retail outlets, will sell Mac computers, iPads, and iPhones, at 0% interest over 6- or 12-month periods.

Those hoping that this will be an easy way to kit out their new offices with equipment will want to pay close attention to the terms and conditions for the deal, though. Core insists that the offer will be available only to qualifying businesses, which includes companies that have a minimum operating history of 12 months. This excludes startups – the kind that are thriving thanks to app accelerators in Johannesburg and Cape Town – which will likely want to get Apple gear for developing those profitable apps.
