Apple celebrates 1 billion podcast subscriptions

Podcasting was first added to iTunes 8 years ago and since then it has become a pillar of the digital content distribution that Apple’s iTunes store offers, so much so that last year saw the introduction of a dedicated iOS podcasts app. Yesterday the folks at Cupertino announced that there were now 1 billion subscriptions to podcasts from the iTunes store and to celebrate they have a recommendations page that include some of the most popular podcasts of all time along with a selection of some of the hottest up and coming choices to add to your daily listening regime. Favourites like TWiT and the SModcast are featured so if you haven’t been a podcast junky before, there no better time to get into it than today.
