Fight AIDS or find new stars with your Android phone

The University of Berkeley and IBM want you, and your Android phone to help make on of the largest (and cheapest) research supercomputer in the world. BOINC (Berkeley Open Infrastructure for Network Computing) is an application that will allow your smartphone to donate its processing power to a network of other devices so that you can participate in IBM’s World Community Grid choosing to either help them in the search for pulsars in Einstein@Home project or help in the fight against AIDS with the FightAIDS@Home project.

If you have reservations about the potential threat to your battery life and data plan then fear not, BOINC will only activate when your smartphone or tablet is connected to Wi-Fi, charging, and when battery life is already above 90 percent.
