Instagram hacked by fruit loving spam merchants

Popular image-and-video-sharing service Instagram has been invaded by pictures of fruit. According to GigaOm.com’s Om Malik, on Saturday Instagram experienced a surge in users posting pictures of fruit, talking about a wonder diet and linking to a fake page advertising some sort of healthy coffee. The fruity spam posts were apparently the result of spammers compromising individual Instagram accounts, and posting on behalf of unsuspecting users.
