PS4, Xbox One launch title lineup

[vc_column_text width=”1/1″ el_position=”first last”]

Forbes ran a story recently on the launch titles for both the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, and I must admit that I am slowly getting excited. There has been some criticism that the launch lineup for both consoles isn’t fantastic, but you have to look at things in context: there are more games for both new consoles this time around than there were when the PS3 and 360 launched. To me, a handful of exclusives plus a bunch of multi-platform titles is pretty good going on both Microsoft’s and Sony’s parts.

So let’s take a look at each. This first bunch is made up of exclusive games that will only be available on each console separately.

Xbox One

  • Dead Rising 3
  • Forza Motorsport 5
  • LocoCycle
  • Killer Instinct
  • Ryse: Son of Rome

Sony

  • DC Universe Online
  • DriveClub
  • Killzone: Shadow Fall
  • Knack
  • Warframe

And here are the games that will make an appearance on both consoles:

  • Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag
  • Battlefield 4
  • Call of Duty: Ghosts
  • FIFA 14
  • Just Dance 2014
  • LEGO Marvel Super Heroes
  • Madden NFL 25
  • NBA 2K14
  • NBA Live 14
  • Skylanders: Swap Force
  • Watch Dogs

While I’m sure there will be loud disagreements among the gaming community that this lineup is earth-shatteringly amazing, personally I’m not unhappy with it. Sony’s exclusives do seem a little lacklustre, though, as two of its five exclusives (DC Universe Online and Warframe) are free-to-play online games (a genre I’m not a big fan of), but I’m just as sure there are local gamers who will appreciate their inclusion.

As for me, I’m looking forward to Dead Rising 3 as I’m a huge fan of the first two, my itch to drive will surely be scratched by Forza 5 and the new Assassin’s Creed is looking mighty fine indeed. Watchdogs also deserves a mention – I’m looking forward to seeing how Ubisoft maintains the game’s pacing and keeps the player interested throughout.

Of course, when any of us will get to play these games is still anyone’s guess. Good thing Ass Creed IV and Watch Dogs are coming to the PC, 360 and PS3 as well, then.
