ZTE launches the first Firefox OS phone

The first phone using Mozilla’s Firefox OS has been launched in Spain for only €69 (around R900). The device features a modest 3.5-inch 320X480 resolution touchscreen display, 256MB of RAM and 512MB of onboard storage, with a 3.2MP camera. The device is meant to be the first in a wave of new phones in different price segments running the OS and Mozilla has stated its intention to take the fight to Android. Location-based services for the ZTE Open are provided by Nokia’s HERE maps which is interesting considering the possible impact that the phone could have on Nokia’s low end feature phone business.
