BBM for Android beta testing begins

BlackBerry Prayer
Aaargh Zombies!!!

Ask anyone who has ever had a BlackBerry what the standout feature of the phone was and they’ll more than likely offer up BBM as the answer. The instant messaging app was responsible for legions of BlackBerry users walking around like praying zombies all day long. With the rise of both Apple and Android as the dominant smartphone platforms applications like WhatsApp and WeChat have taken over the mantle of IM app of choice. BlackBerry is having none of that though when at the BlackBerry Jam event in Orlando in May it announced that BBM would be coming to Android and iOS in the summer of 2013 or winter as we have it in the southern hemisphere (which if you haven’t been outside lately is happening right now).

So it comes as no surprise that the beta for BBM for Android has been outed by some of the lucky participants in the private beta testing group. Screenshots of at least one Samsung Galaxy S III running a version of  BBM have been posted online along with other screenshots showing different screens in the application.

If you are an Android or iPhone user would you consider using BBM as your go-to messaging application?
