Apple’s iPhone announcement set for September 10th

Next week will be a busy one in the tech world, with the 10th of September being the date for the Intel Developer Forum – which we’ll be attending – as well as 360:iDev, Mobile Future Forward, and TechCrunch’s Disrupt.

Apple’s now officially thrown its hat into the mix, after rumours that it would host an event on the 10th of September. And its news might just overshadow the rest of the goings-on in the tech world, as its colourful – which ties in nicely with rumours of the coloured-plastic iPhone 5C – alludes to.

More interestingly, Apple’s going to be hosting a separate event the next day, on the 11th of September, in China. There have been reports that the company wants to make major inroads in the heavily populated Asian country from whence its wares hail, and a more affordable iPhone might just be what it needs.

Apple’s also been beta testing its mobile operating system, iOS7, for the last two months. Though it hasn’t yet been finalised, it’s possible a release date will be announced at the event.

We’ll be reporting live on the 10th, so if you’re eager to see what Apple announces, keep your eyes glued to the front page of htxt.africa, next week Tuesday.
