JoziHub to host TEDxJoburgCity 2.0

Like it or not, cities are the future of mankind. We’re urbanising at a dramatic rate – more than 50% of the world’s population living in cities already, and the UN and World Bank reckon 80% of us will be within the next 20  years. So figuring out how to make place like Johannesburg work, and work properly, with seamless service delivery, low crime rates and clean, breathable air is something we have to do.

‘Smart Cities’ is very much a buzzword du jour for the way technology can help with this, but really it’s going to be a smart people, and people being smarter. Which is why the global gathering of cleverclogses, TED, has put aside Friday 20th September as a day for us all to think about urbanisation and share our best ideas. The organisation is hosting TEDxCity2.0 in New York, but local events are also taking place with local speakers.

TEDxJohannesburgCity2.0, for example, is scheduled for midday on 20th September down at JoziHub, and you can get your tickets here. They cost R200.
