How to Arduino class kicking off in Cape Town

Despite the fact my Arduino-powered 3D printer is offline again, I still love Arduino. Not as much as Intel, obviously, but enough. You should love the open hardware controller boards too – and if you don’t, then there’s an opportunity to find out why you should at Cape Town’s Curiosity Campus.

Neil sends word that there’s an event next Monday evening art 135 Loop Street, which costs R675 and kicks off at 6.15pm. All are welcome, although booking is advised. The class will teach you enough to get started with Arduino programming and look at the sorts of projects you can get up and running using the hardware – most of which will involve robots.

If the price seems steep, it’s because you get an Arduino board and starter component pack thrown in – which actually makes it a decent value night out. It’s hosted by Arduino Cape Town, so the advice should be pretty good too.

And in related Arduino news, I noticed that Micro Robotics in Centurion is currently selling Arduino MEGA boards for R440 at the moment – which is cheaper than you can get them overseas. Get ’em while you can.

In the meantime, here’s an Arduino-powered farm.
