How to: Check if you’re registered for next year’s national elections

2014 will see South Africa’s 5th democratic election taking place and to ensure that you’re registered to have your say in who will lead the country this weekend, the 9th and 10th of November, is voter registration time.

In case you’re unsure about whether you’re registered or you don’t know which voting station you are registered at there are two easy ways to find out:

  1. You can SMS your ID Number to 32810 which costs R1.00 per SMS sent or received (we figure this means you’ll be paying R2 for this service)
  2. Or you can head over to the Independent Electoral Commission website, enter your ID number and check out all of your details to make sure they’re correct.

If you’re registering for the first time or have changed your residential address since the last time there was an election then you can check out all of the details on how to register or change your voting station from the IEC website.

If you need to find out where your voting station is using the aptly named voting station finder.
