Help Jamaica send a bobsled team to the Winter Olympics, again

Jamaica’s two-man bobsled team has qualified for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi but because of financial constraints the Jamaica Olympic Association won’t be able to send the athlete’s to the games. There is good news for the team of of Winston Watts and Marvin Dixon though, with the internet and the power of crowd-funding coming to the rescue.

So far over $21 000 of the $80 000 dollar required total has been raised between an Indiegogo campaign and a donations page on Crowdtilt in a little over 24 hours.

It’s become a feel good moment reminiscent of the 1993 Disney movie ‘Cool Runnings’ which told the story of Jamaica’s first unlikely bobsledding trip to the Winter Olympics in 1988.

We’re hoping that the team gets the funding it needs to make it to Sochi and that they get caught singing some of the songs from the movie.

“Some people say you know them can’t believe, Jamaica we have a bobsled team”
